Our Impact at a Glance

What We Provide

The Phoenix Fellowship provides sustained, high-touch support for refugee students pursuing careers in science and medicine. While financial relief is an important foundation, the Fellowship is designed to go far beyond tuition assistance. Each fellow receives personalised mentoring, career development, and access to professional networks that might otherwise remain closed. We partner with students throughout their academic journey, offering practical help to navigate complex systems and targeted opportunities to strengthen their future prospects. Our approach recognises that talent flourishes not only with resources but also with belonging, encouragement, and belief. By combining financial, academic, and social backing, The Phoenix Fellowship equips students to become confident leaders who will contribute to science, medicine, and society at the highest levels.

What Our Fellows Achieve

Phoenix Fellows bring resilience, intellect, and determination into environments where they have historically been underrepresented. With the support of The Phoenix Fellowship, they secure places at top institutions, engage in scientific research, and begin careers that will shape the future of medicine and discovery. Fellows have co-authored peer-reviewed publications, secured summer research placements, entered competitive medical schools, and taken up leadership roles in student science societies. These achievements reflect what becomes possible when potential meets opportunity.

How They Give Back

The Phoenix Fellowship is designed as a living network that grows stronger with each new cohort. As students progress, they remain connected not only to the programme but to one another, creating a community that endures beyond graduation. Former Fellows return as mentors, advisors, and ambassadors sharing their experiences, guiding new fellows through challenges, and modelling the possibilities that lie ahead. This cycle of support fosters a culture of shared responsibility and generosity where achievement is not the end point but a resource to be passed forward. In this way, the Fellowship builds an inter-generational community of scientists and clinicians who appreciate that their own success will create opportunities for those who follow.
